Leading Hand Carpenter

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll work closely with the Foreman to coordinate and deliver high-quality carpentry across a range of custom, high-performance homes.

You’ll be trusted to take ownership of your work, lead small groups or apprentices, and ensure every task is delivered efficiently, safely, and to Enduro’s exacting standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Foreman to lead and coordinate the carpentry team to achieve project milestones.
  • Ensure all work meets Enduro’s standards for quality, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
  • Take ownership of specific project components, ensuring they are delivered on time, defect-free, and within allocated hours.
  • Mentor and guide apprentices, providing hands-on training and feedback to improve skill, speed, and accuracy.
  • Promote and maintain a culture of accountability, pride, and attention to detail among all team members.
  • Support the Foreman with day-to-day organisation of site logistics, materials, and task sequencing.
  • Communicate clearly and proactively with the Foreman and Site Managers regarding progress, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Uphold and model Enduro Builders’ Company Values and Mission in all site activities.

Main Duties

  • Execute high-quality carpentry work including framing, cladding, linings, and fit-out to specification and schedule.
  • Supervise and guide apprentices to ensure consistent workmanship and productivity.
  • Assist in coordinating materials, tools, and labour to maintain smooth workflow.
  • Read and interpret plans and specifications to ensure all work meets design intent and build accuracy.
  • Conduct ongoing quality checks, ensuring rework is minimised and any issues are promptly raised with the Foreman.
  • Maintain safe working conditions and compliance with WHS requirements.
  • Record work progress and updates in the company’s project management system (Wunderbuild).
  • Participate in daily site start-ups, toolbox talks, and team briefings.
  • Assist with tracking time allocations and providing accurate feedback to support estimation and project planning improvements.

  • Delivery of high-quality carpentry work to Enduro’s standards.
  • Achievement of productivity targets (labour hours per task as per Wunderbuild).
  • Positive apprentice development feedback and progression.
  • Timely and accurate completion of allocated work areas.
  • Minimal defects and rework requirements.
  • Adherence to safety policies and procedures.
  • Active contribution to a cohesive, high-performing team culture.

Qualifications

  • Current Driver’s Licence.
  • Trade qualification in Carpentry (Certificate III or equivalent).
  • First Aid and White Card certifications.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years in the building industry, including 1–2 years in a senior carpentry role.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead small teams or apprentices on-site.
  • Proven track record of producing high-quality carpentry work across residential projects.
  • Experience or strong interest in sustainable or energy-efficient construction methods.
  • Comfortable and competent with technology
