South Australia’s very first Certified Passivhaus Display Home

Like Many People Considering Building A Passivhaus, You’re Probably Wondering:

  • How it will compare to a standard custom home (in noticeable benefits, upfront investment, and ongoing savings).
  • Maybe you’ve seen advertising claims about how quiet and peaceful Passivhaus homes are and wonder what that feels like in real life (or if you’ll even notice).
  • Perhaps you’ve read articles about the improved air quality in Passivhaus homes. And while the data looks good, you wonder what difference (if any) it will make to your health (especially when it comes to things like allergies, eczema, and respiratory function) and overall energy.
  • You’ve no doubt heard about how comfortable and energy efficient Passivhaus homes are. But are the claims of stable all-year temperature (with minimal heating and cooling) exaggerated? And what energy savings can you really expect?
  • If you’re like most people, you just want to know the truth. What’s worth spending extra on? Where can you save without compromise? And how can you be confident you are getting genuine value for your money compared to a standard custom home.

Enduro Builders Display Home

As Real As It Gets

Unlike other builders who load their display homes with premium extras (that cost tens of thousands more than their standard package prices), our custom home builder features realistic family-style inclusions. So you get a real sense of what you get for your money. And see how cost-effective quality can be.

While you are naturally free to choose premium styling options for your home, you won’t see them in this display house. What you will see (and experience) is a home that is quiet, healthy, and supremely comfortable – meticulously built in frame, features, and finishes.

Industrial Strength, Library Quiet

Swinging the front door open, you get a sense of how sturdy the home is. Nothing shakes, squeaks, or creaks. Closing it seals the hustle and bustle outside, leaving you in a serene sanctuary.

The entire home is acoustically shielded to block noise from traffic, neighbours and dogs outside. It works in reverse too. So you can enjoy loud music and movies. And live the way you want without worrying about who will hear.

Each room is also designed for maximum auditory privacy so you can relax in total peace and quiet.

Lights Out But Still Bright

When you visit other display homes (or houses for sale), you’ll notice that every light is already turned on. If they weren’t, the houses would be dark and dingy.

Your tour of our Passivhaus begins with the lights off. So you can see how light and bright every room is (even on dull days). A result of the detailed Sun Studies we conduct to optimise size and placement of windows (to maximise natural light without compromising thermal performance).

Clean, Healthy Air

As you move throughout the home, you’ll notice how relaxed you feel. How much easier you’re breathing. And how much energy and focus you have.

That’s because the HRV (Heat Recovery Ventilation) System is removing stale CO2 and replacing it with fresh filtered air that is free from pollens, smoke, mould spores, and airborne contaminants. This also helps to keep the home clean and free from dust.

Contemporary kitchen design featuring minimalist cabinetry, ample counter space, and a bright, airy.

Stable Humidity

No dampness or condensation that causes dangerous mould. Just stable humidity that is comfortable and healthy.

Reducing the incidence of allergies, skins conditions, and respiratory afflictions.

Balcony with glass sliding doors connecting indoor living area to outdoor deck, featuring contempora.

Design Optimisation

Your guide will explain how the layout of the home has been optimised to make the most of the unique block of land – maximising natural light, breezes, and views, without compromising privacy.

You’ll see the attention that goes into every design detail to make our Passivhaus homes supremely comfortable.

Windows And Doors

Not all thermally efficient windows and doors are the same. While most are double-glazed (with two panes of glass), many that other builders use have an aluminium frame (that acts as a thermal bridge that compromises the thermal integrity of the home).

Your guide will explain why the windows and doors we use have PVC frames. Why, unlike other builders who import windows and doors from overseas, we only use windows and doors made locally in Australia. And the studies we conduct to determine the optimum size and placement of each window and door.

What Quality Looks (And Feels) Like

To the inexperienced eye, most new homes look nice at first glance – even though they may be riddled with underlying problems (commonly hidden under plaster and paint).

Your guide will point out the expert workmanship and meticulous attention to detail that goes into our Passivhaus homes to give them superior structural integrity, practical features, and flawless finish.

Gain 30 Years Of Building Experience In Just 45 Minutes

Unlike many display home tours with other companies that are really just a sales presentation with a commission salesperson (who may not have any building experience), your tour of Enduro’s Passivhaus Display Home is with one of our team who will actually be working with you to get your home dreams turned into a reality (they also aren’t on a commission!).

After your tour, you’ll know more about passivhaus building than most builders (even those that claim to build energy efficient houses). You’ll be able to spot issues in other homes. And you’ll know exactly what to look for in a builder for your home.

Naturally (and if appropriate), we’d love to help you build your own dream Passivhaus home. But in any case, we are glad to show you around our Passivhaus Display Home so you can avoid mistakes you may regret, and feel more informed and confident in making decisions about the home you’re building.

You Be The Judge

While you can spend days (weeks, and months) researching information about Passivhaus homes. And listen to the opinions of so-called experts (most of whom have never actually lived in a passivhaus). The only way to really understand the differences (and benefits) is to experience them for yourself.

That’s why we invested more than $1m to build the only Passivhaus display home in South Australia.

And we’re delighted to invite you to book a tour.

Display Home Tour FAQs

Where is the display home located?

Our display home is located in the premium Springlake Estate, Mount Barker. There is street parking available, and the exact address will be provided when you book your appointment.

We selected this site to demonstrate how our homes perform beautifully even on blocks with challenges. It shows how, with the right design approach, difficult sites can be transformed into exceptional, comfortable, and energy-efficient living spaces.

Is there a cost to attend the tour?

No, attending a display home tour has no cost. It’s simply a great way for us to share our passion for energy-efficient home design and for you to experience the difference in comfort and quality firsthand.

How long does the tour take?

Our tours run for around 45 minutes, depending on the size of the group and the level of discussion. If you have more detailed questions about design or energy performance, we’re always happy to spend extra time with you.

Do I need to book ahead?

Yes. Our display home tours are by appointment only. When you book, we’ll also gather some contact details so we can understand your background and preferences before you arrive.

You can book a tour by contacting our team directly via phone or email, or by using the booking form on our website.

What should I expect when I arrive?

You’ll be welcomed at the display home by one of our team members, who will guide you through the property. We’ll begin in the foyer with a chat about your plans, ideas, and any questions you may have about building - this helps us tailor the tour to you.

What will I learn during the tour?

We’ll walk you through the home, highlighting its design features, energy efficiency, and comfort benefits. You’ll learn about the five pillars of Passive House design, the different performance levels we build to, and how our approach improves air quality, reduces condensation and mould risk, and ensures year-round comfort.

You’ll also see practical details, from kitchen and bathroom finishes to storage solutions and layout choices. Most importantly, it’s your opportunity to experience the finish, quiet, comfort, and light of our homes, and to have your questions answered while exploring what it’s like to live in a Certified Passivhaus.

Will I see the energy systems in action?

Yes, we’ll show you the ventilation system (HRV), air conditioning approach, and other integrated features. You’ll learn how fresh, filtered air circulates throughout the home, how the design minimises energy loss, and how systems like high-performance glazing and insulation work together.

Can I ask questions during the tour?

Absolutely! We encourage questions at any stage of the tour. It’s a chance for you to deepen your understanding of energy efficient design and our building process. We’re here to answer anything you’d like to know, big or small. That’s what the tour is all about.

What happens after the tour?

We hope the tour answers many of your questions and sparks new ideas. From there, you’re welcome to:

  • Book an Initial Site Consultation if you’d like to take the next step in your building journey.

  • Keep the conversation going by asking more questions or arranging a follow-up chat if you’re still exploring your options.
