Why Starting Cheap Ends Up Costing More

We’ve seen it more times than we can count when starting cheap: a client gets drawn in by a low headline price, signs on, and then… the variations start rolling in.

And strangely, they almost expect it. There’s this odd comfort in starting low and getting gradually worn down by add-ons, surprises, and compromises. Somewhere along the line, the industry trained people to think that’s normal.

But the truth is, starting with a price that’s too good to be true usually means you’re not being shown the real picture.

Here’s how we do it differently at Enduro: And Why We Don’t Recommend Starting Cheap

  • We give you the actual cost of what it will take to build what you need — not a best-case version with bits left out.

  • We talk about design and budget at the same time, not in separate rooms.

  • And we call things early, before they become problems.

It might feel a bit confronting up front. But it gives you control — and that’s far better than constantly reacting.

We’ve found most clients don’t actually mind hearing a bigger number — as long as it’s the real one. What they do mind is being surprised by costs they weren’t told about.

So yes, you can start cheap. But it will cost you more — in budget, time, and probably stress.
We’d rather just get it right from the beginning.
